7 Things No Matter How Good They Sound, Just Aren’t True

We have a set of beliefs that we follow ardently, right?

Some of us like to believe in ‘Everything happens for a reason’ or some of us like to believe in ‘Whatever happens, happens for the good.’ As I was writing this article, I was thinking what explanation should I give here. And then, it hit me that maybe things are meant to be the way they are. Or, people like to believe in those because it provides them a support system, a false belief that everything will eventually turn out fine.

So, let’s see what are those things that we like to believe:

1. Ignorance is bliss. NOT

No, it’s not. It’s a choice. And it’s illness. In today’s world, we cannot just conclude that Ignorance is a bliss.

2. Time changes everything

Time doesn’t change anything. You change it. You put efforts to change the present scenario and eventually, as time passes, the situation changes. You cannot just do nothing and expect that time will heal all wounds.

3. Everything happens for a reason

While most of you would like to believe that, but it’s not true. This is just a way to console yourself that if so and so mishap happens, everything will eventually turn out to be fine.

4. Everything will work out in the end

This is again a false assurance that people give to themselves. The same reasoning follows: If you don’t work, how can you expect time to heal everything?

5. Bad things don’t happen to good people

While everybody wants to believe in the “karma” concept, I have seen really good things can happen to even people who were involved in crimes, fraud cases, etc. On the contrary, there are people who have been nothing but honorable, kind, giving but have suffered in the most insensitive ways possible.

6. I’ve got time

Life is so unpredictable that you don’t know what might happen in the next ten seconds, leave alone the next ten years. This, again, is a type of false self-assurance you give to yourself time and again and postpone things for the future. Reality check: Nobody has time. Whatever time you have, you have it NOW.

7. If you believe in yourself then anything is possible

Why because some people are deluded. Our abilities are unique and limited. I’m all for self-belief and ambition, but I’m also a realist and phrases like this often pander to those with hopeless dreams. Blasting out the odd song at karaoke does not mean you are the next Mariah Carey, for example. But playing to my strengths, is.

Sorry to burst your bubble, mates! (now please don’t hate me)

p.s. Even if you hate me, time will heal everything. Oh wait…
