14 Things You Can Add To Your Room To Make It The Ultimate Geek Den

Let’s set one thing on record. Us geeks and nerds and fanboys/fangirls never rest. We can never be content with just a few things to love, watch, read, and experience. We always want more, larger, and better. And the ultimate dream for any geek is their own room filled with and covered in everything they love.

Geek den/Man cave/Nerd nirvana. Call it what you will. But there’s a reason it exists in so many of our houses in varying degrees.

So if you have set off on the journey for building your own geek den, fret not! We’re here to help with our basic nerd-cave-building-from-scratch guide. So, sit back, and knock yourselves out!

Little things can be spread around your room to make it geekier. The most basic things fans go for are coasters, which can be placed literally anywhere. Your desktop table, coffee table, side table. And be assured, because they will be used, when friends come over for drinks, or for your own coffee mugs.

2. This Sherlock Coffee Mug

Speaking of mugs, every fanboy/fangirl, big or small, will own primitive objects like mugs that will show off their love for their favourite fandoms. If you own a few coffee mugs depicting the various nerd indulgences of yours, then you’ve already crossed the threshold into serious, and bigger, stuff.

What’s a better way to adorn your walls than proudly showing off what you love? Do away with the mundane blank walls of your rooms and put up some posters or hang paraphernalia. Walls are the most expansive parts of your room and will be noticed first by the people who enter it. They’ll know what you follow.

4. This Hunger Games Wall Decal

The next step to glorifying your walls would be to get some cool decals that will cover a large portion of your wall, or to get artsy and paint artwork on your wall yourself. Self expressed and more spaced out creativity on the wall will make it look better than it ever could. If you’re a fan of DIY, this article on wall art will help!

5. This Magnificent Bookshelf

After you’re done doing up your wall(s), you might want to add furniture to the ones that are still empty and need something other than beautification. There’s no better furniture for a nerd than the furniture that holds their precious items. Books and game/movie DVDs. So go get a bookshelf!

6. Figurines/Models

What do you do after you’ve filled up your bookshelf and have a little space left over? Of course, you cannot waste that precious shelf real estate. Fill it with toys, figurines, showpieces, or replica models of your favourite characters, and join an entire community of merchandise lovers.

On the other side of the geek debate stand technophiles. Kids and grown-ups alike who are all about that dope tech go all out and invest in their favourite models of anything ranging from digital cameras to desktop PCs to even woodworking instruments. Yes, musical instruments also count!
