Desi moms are a very, very formidable and fearsome breed. There are some things that you just CANNOT do around them. Or else…(you know how that sentence ends, don’t you?). Which is why we take great care that we don’t lose her precious Tupperware, break her expensive crockery, leave food uneaten on our plates or take a shot around her. And we most certainly do not make any decisions regarding the kitchen without her express approval.
But 40-year-old Twitter user @_GoneNative went where none of us even dare to go. She threw away her mom’s saunf (fennel seeds) after they got infested with bugs while she was away from home!
I am 40.
My dad is 70+.

And then proceeded to text her an explanation that ended with her declaring that she wasn’t scared of her. But we all know that’s hogwash, right?
Her veiled fear of her mother despite her age had people nodding their heads in agreement. Because no matter how old you are, desi moms will always be fearsome. The tweet gathered 700 retweets and over 4500 likes with many people claiming that their dads are also equally scared.
The Twitterati hilariously called out the woman on her “I not scared” that reeked of nervousness and hoped that she came out of this situation in one piece (sans flying chappals).
This whole text reeks of fear. The casual tone is not cutting it.

Telling mom that you are throwing away some stuff is like the scariest thing ever.
