After 2 Massive Gemstones In June, Lucky Miner Finds A 6kg Tanzanite Worth ₹15 Crores!

“Dene wala jab bhi deta, deta chappar phadke.” This is exactly the case for a Tanzanian miner who became an overnight millionaire after discovering not 1, not 2, but 3 rare gemstones. It all began when, Saniniu Laizer, a small-scale miner, discovered two large tanzanite gemstones initially. Wondering what is so special about these stones?

Well, Tanzanite is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth and it’s found only in a small northern region of the East African nation, reports NDTV. The precious stone is used in making jewellery. And, its appeal lies in its variety of hues including colours like green, red, purple and blue and also its clarity. Hence the finer the colour or clarity, the higher the price.

Saniniu, a father of more than 30 children, discovered two rocks weighing 9.2kg and 5.8kg back in June, reports BBC. He became a millionaire after selling the two rough stones for $3.4m (Rs.23 crore approx ). The government gave him a cheque for 7.74 billion Tanzanian shillings or $3.35 million. That is not all, he then discovered a third gem weighing 6.3kg. He sold the third tanzanite for a whopping $2 million (Rs.15 crore approx.).

However, the new millionaire said that he won’t change his lifestyle after the discoveries. He was quoted saying, “With the money we are getting, we will give back to our community. I personally have set up two schools for children with the money I received from mining.” He also plans to continue looking after his 2,000 cows.

Well, congratulations to Saniniu. Kudos to him for working towards the benefit of his community.
