Watch: Swapna Barman’s Mother Bursts Into Tears As Daughter Wins Gold At Asian Games

When Indian heptathlete Swapna Barman clinched the Gold Medal at the ongoing Asian Games on Wednesday, it wasn’t a normal win. The 21-year-old showed true grit and determination to fight off a nagging toothache and finish the heptathlon as the number one.

However, the hardships Swapna had faced to reach this stage is way bigger than that. With an extra finger in each of her feet, the struggles in her life were significant.

As soon as Swapna crossed the finishing line on 29th August, huge celebrations followed. The incredibly talented athlete smashed the 6000-point ceiling to win the ultimate prize. However, amidst all the videos that are going viral, a certain video of Swapna’s mother, who couldn’t control her emotions seeing her daughter’s glory, is the one you need to see.

In the video, Swapna’s mother, who is a homemaker can be seen watching the final event with all the other family members. On Swapna winning the event, she burst out in tears, overjoyed with the result.

Swapna’s father is a rickshaw-puller in Jalpaiguri.

She then goes to their family temple and lies down stretched out on the floor, thanking the almighty. The moment was indeed an extremely emotional one for Swapna and her family, for whom adversities have always been a part of life.
