Life works in mysterious ways and I love it when there is a good news at the end of the tunnel. Pardon me, If I sound like your door-ki-dadi but what could be a bigger khush khabri than the arrival of a beautiful baby. But turns out, there is!

It was way bigger and better because of a brave and alert final year medical student who took the help of technology to deliver a baby on a TRAIN!

Vipin Bhagwanrao Khadse, a 24-year-old final year MBBS student, helped 24-year old Chitralekha in labour and delivered a beautiful baby boy on-board the Ahmedabad-Puri Express. He did so with instructions from his seniors through WhatsApp.

Vipin who is not a qualified doctor is a student at the Nagpur-based Government Medical College & Hospital.

According to Vipin, the train was about 30km from Nagpur when Chitralekha’s relatives pulled the chain to halt the train near Wardha junction. He told TOI,

“The ticket collector and guard were looking for a doctor on the train. Initially, I kept quiet presuming there could be some experienced doctor. But, when they came for a second round of inquiry, I offered to help.”

It was a complicated delivery because when Vipin attended her she was in great pain and was bleeding profusely.

“The delivery was complicated because instead of the head, the baby’s shoulder was hanging out of the vagina. I uploaded a photo in a WhatsApp group of doctors for help. A senior resident Shikha Malik guided me on the phone to conduct the delivery. I had to use chilled water bottles to stop her bleeding. The amniotic fluid had completely dried. A midwife on the train helped me.”

The lad later also took to Facebook to share his experience with all, which has now garnered a lot of love and support.

Now, isn’t it just the thing that reinforces your faith in humanity?
