Steve Waugh Fulfilled His Friend’s Last Wish By Immersing His Ashes In The Ganga

Steve Waugh has been one of the most iconic cricketers in the history of international cricket. The former Australian cricketer was a formidable batsman and an equally great captain. However, even off the field, Steve Waugh was and continues to be an incredible human being.

Most recently, in order to fulfil his friend, Stephen’s last wish, Waugh travelled all the way to the Manikarnika ghat to immerse his ashes into the Ganga river.

“Stephen was my very loving friend. His last wish was that after his death, his mortal remains to be immersed here.”

Steve Waugh arrived in Varanasi on Tuesday afternoon where he hired a guide and travelled to Manikarnika ghat. There, he conducted all the proper ceremonies before immersing his friend’s ashes into the holy river.

In today’s day and age, it’s rare to see someone make such an effort to fulfil a friend’s last wish. We are so preoccupied with our own lives, aspirations and dreams more often than not, we fail to consider the wishes of even our closest friends.

Some reports also claim that Steve Waugh had come to immerse the ashes of locally known Australian shoe-shiner Brian Rudd. However, these reports haven’t be confirmed as yet.

Steve Waugh, you have my utmost respect.
