Steve Smith Vows To Earn Back The Lost Respect In A Heartfelt Instagram Post

Former Australian skipper Steve Smith’s journey to script himself as a legendary baggie green took a major blow due to the infamous ball-tampering scandal which took place in March. The fidgety blonde, along with vice-captain David Warner and rookie Cameron Bancroft, was found guilty of tampering with the ball during the third Test against South Africa, in Cape Town.

Smith, who sits firmly at the top of the ICC Test batsman rankings, was slammed with a one year ban from cricket putting an end to the exceptional run of form of the Aussie. An emotional Steve Smith took full responsibility for the error of judgement as he broke down in the press conference that followed.

However, after a long absence from social media platforms, Steve Smith took to Instagram with a message for his fans. The 28-year-old right-hander, who is now back in Australia, thanked his fans for the extraordinary love and support showered on him during the toughest phase of his life. Smith also promised to win back the lost trust of his countrymen and come back stronger.

“It’s great to be back home in Australia. I have had some time away to come to terms with everything and now it’s time to get back into it. The amount of emails and letters I have received has been incredible and I have been extremely humbled by the enormous amount of support you have given me. I now have a lot to do to earn back your trust. To my Mum, Dad and Dani you have been my rock through this and I can’t thank you enough. Family is the most important thing in the world and I thank you for your love and support.”
We hope Steve Smith handles the robust time like he has been handling those bouncers on the cricket field and make a roaring comeback next year!
