India just celebrated Diwali with much fervour and enthusiasm. B-town wasn’t far behind in sharing their Diwali wishes with their fans and friends. And among them was Shah Rukh Khan who extended his Diwali wishes to billions of fans.
Married to Gauri Khan, SRK celebrates most Hindu festivals enthusiastically and it reflects how strongly he believes in the idea of secularism.
And like every year, Khan wished his fans on Diwali too. He posted a picture of him with wife Gauri Khan and son Abram. The trio is seen donning a ‘Chandan-kumkum tilak’ after the customary Diwali puja.
#HappyDiwali to everyone. May your lives be lit up and happy. pic.twitter.com/3ppOAvhTmd

But people on the internet weren’t very pleased by his gesture and bashed him for celebrating the festival. Some even alleged that he’d photoshopped the tilaks on their foreheads.

But among the many people who supported Khan for celebrating the Indian festival of lights was veteran actress Shabana Azmi. She tweeted a powerful reply for all the trolls.
Appalled to read that @iamsrk Diwali greeting invites wrath of rabid Islamists, gets called a “False Muslim” for sporting a tilak!”FUNDOS get a life! Islam is not so weak that it stands threatened by what is a beautiful Indian custom.Indias beauty is in her GangaJamuni tehzeeb

For a couple thats been married for ovr 2 decades, while embracing each other’s culture & customs lovingly, I’m sure SRK is beyond all this. Be it Ganapati or Diwali, he gets trolled every yr, only to quietly continue the next year in the path of our multi-dimensional tehzeeb 🙂

I have so many good friends, wonderful students, respected colleagues who celebrate this festival of lights… may all revel in the love of family and friends… and continue to contribute to the eternal quest for good. Happy Diwali.

Happy Diwali King Khan and don’t mind the trolls. ‘Badey badey desho me aesi choti choti batey hoti rehti hai,’ haina?
