Fatima Sana Shaikh is riding high on the success of her last outing, ‘Dangal’, and is literally the fresh face on the block. With her riveting portrayal of Geeta Phogat, she’s garnered rave reviews. But the overnight star, who is a self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fan, cited a cute incident when she totally fangirled on him, slyly.
Fatima met SRK at a Diwali party, just before the release of her film. Though she had a calm exterior, she didn’t let go of the chance to slightly touch her idol.
“I managed to be calm and well-behaved. But when AK who’s really proud of Sanya, Zaira (Wasim) and me, was showing SRK our wrestling practise videos and he said something funny, I took the chance and touched him while laughing at the joke. It was borderline creepy, but for me it was a huge moment.”
Well, that was kind of cute. 😛 As cute as the moment they shared in ‘One Two Ka Four’ when Fatima was just nine.
The movie has changed her life and people now see her in a different light and approach with more warmth.
“When you are a newcomer, you don’t get too many offers or have too many options. I’m fortunate I auditioned for something this big and got the part.”
While speaking about what happened with young Geeta aka Zaira Wasim, Fatima reserved any politically incorrect statement. She said,
“What happened was unfortunate but I don’t know much about it. I’d like to speak to Zaira personally and ask her about it.”
After a sports film, what kind of roles is she interested in?
She might be basking in the limelight, but she’s not cut back on hard work. She goes to the gym each morning and then heads to her internship with Aamir Khan.
