Like tumbling dominoes they’re all going down. In the wake of the Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar-Vivek Agnihotri fiasco that dominated headlines and social media the last few days, the #MeToo movement is having a Hollywood moment in India now. Women are calling out their harassers online one after the other.
Yesterday, in particular, was an eventful day when comedian and YouTuber Utsav Chakraborty was accused of sending sexually explicit messages to women online.

The viral tweet that started this whole saga has a domino effect on Twitter, leading to more known online personalities being exposed for their sexual misbehaviours. And it doesn’t help that in response to the allegations against him, Chakraborty issued a sorry excuse of a so-called apology which impressed no one.
And while all this was going down in one part of Twitter, Sonam Kapoor inadvertently ended up facing criticism for lashing out unfairly, in another.
It started when the actress posted a story on Instagram complaining about the traffic and the sad state of the roads.
Twitter user Anant Vasu tweeted out to her pointing that celebs like her who travel in luxury cars are themselves responsible for the aforementioned pollution:
@sonamakapoor its because of people like you,who don't use public transport or less fuel consumption vehicles.
You Know that your luxury car gives 3 or 4 km per litre mileage and 10 /20 AC's in your house are equally responsible for global warming.
First control your pollution. pic.twitter.com/CrlGmKxv0b— Anant Vasu #AV🇮🇳 (@anantvasu) October 4, 2018
While he did have a valid point, Sonam seems to not have been in a mood to acknowledge it and instead lashed out at him as such:

Her response was not taken lightly by netizens who criticised her for unfairly comparing him to sexual harassers:
You've called somebody a molester without having any proof!! Please report Sonam Kapoor's tweet.

Men like him??
I find him environmentally sound and responsible citizen. Private transportation does contribute a lot to air pollution. It's not just 'Diwali' that adds to climate change and global warming.
He has the right to have an opinion just like you do.— Reborn Phoenix (@healed_warrior) October 5, 2018

The number of sexual harassers being exposed online is enough to make any woman’s blood boil. In such an atmosphere, it is understandable that a feeling of general distrust towards all men might arise. However, as a celeb, Sonam is responsible for her actions and the words she chooses. Let this incident serve as a reminder that even though there are an insane amount of men who are sexual predators, it’s judicious not to call anyone a harasser randomly. #NotAllMen.
