NYE is a time when a lot of people jettison to faraway locales so that they can ring in the new year there. Some choose places like Nagaland, Switzerland, and Finland where they can enjoy the snow while others opt for warmer destinations like Australia. No matter the place, the idea is to come back home refreshed and recharged.
According to Hindustan Times, singer Sona Mohapatra is currently on a beach vacay from where she shared images of herself enjoying the sun, sand, and the sea in a black swimsuit yesterday.
Wild & Wanton.

While she received compliments from many of her fans, some Twitter users expressed their dissent by calling her a “wannabe” and a “fake feminist”.

Sona has been known to speak up about issues concerning the #MeToo movement in India and slamming “deeply misogynistic and patriarchal” movies like Kabir Singh. Earlier, when music composer Anu Malik was reinstated as a judge on Indian Idol despite allegations of misconduct, she wrote an open letter to Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani demanding his removal.
People posted various comments saying her pictures didn’t go with her serious image, were a means to seek attention and would hurt her fight against sexual predators in the industry.
When allegations fail to keep one floated, this is the resort for wannabes. Seems someone has taken a course on staying afloat.

To all this, she responded by saying, “I refuse to fit into any box, just like I refuse to suck in my well-earned belly.”
Grateful for all writing in.The first category of people show themselves to the rest of the world & hopefully someone in their life’s will teach them the concept of ‘consent’ & how clothes or lack of them doesn’t justify anyone attacking a woman. 2020 here I Come. #SonaOnTheRocks pic.twitter.com/VrsJLggMKc

This incident prompts a discourse on why people still think it is okay to blame a woman for her clothes, don’t you agree?
