Here’s How Smashing Birthday Cake On Your Friend’s Face Can Land You In Prison In Gujarat!

Love dunking your friend’s face in the cake and giving your friends birthday bumps in public? But you will have to get rid of this habit if you live in Gujarat! In an attempt to eliminate public nuisance in the city, Surat police have banned smearing cake, adhesive tape, and chemical foam during birthday celebrations in public. Doing this might land you in jail!

The Assistant Commissioner of Police PL Chaudhary has issued an order to ban cake smearing under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It will be effective from May 14 to July 12.

Anybody who violates the order will be answerable under provisions of Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant)

The ban comes after several cases of injury due to cake smearing came to light in the city.

“We received information about incidents in which individuals suffered injuries in a birthday celebration. On Dumas Road and some bridges, such incidents were reported. Considering this, the order has been issued,” said Police Commissioner Satish Sharma to TOI.

Narrating a similar incident, police sources told TOI, “A young man whose birthday was being celebrated was tied to a light pole and later eggs were thrown at him. The boy fell on the ground when freed by neighbors.”

“This notification has been issued to give out a clear message and create awareness among people that certain types of celebrations are life-threatening and they should be avoided.”, said Sharma. “Police will not only book those involved for violation of notification but for thrashing and other related offenses as well,” he added.

Surat police are on a spree to ban things that not only cause a nuisance in the society but also turn dangerous for the citizens. They were also among the first cities in the country to ban PUBG. The online battle game has caused several cases of murders and deaths in the country.

What’s your take on their decision to ban cake smearing? Do you think it will be helpful or it’s just unnecessary?
