Cyber sexual harassment is just as prevalent in the country as physical sexual harassment, and, if anything, the miscreants are on the rise as they get braver behind the screens of their phones and computers.
Recently, none other than President of India Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha, a politician herself, was similarly harassed by a pervert on Facebook, and she put up the following post as a message, along with screenshots.
“This pervert Partha Mandal is sending me dirty sexual messages. My first reaction was to ignore and block him. But then I thought the silence would encourage him to find other victims. Just blocking and reporting is not enough. I strongly feel such people should be publicly exposed and humiliated. I’m posting screenshots of his profile and messages he sent me. I’m also tagging him. Please share this post and tag this rat as a message that these pervert acts will not be taken lightly.”
The pervert in question has removed his tag from her post, and from the comments, it seems that people have reported his profile and it now shows as unavailable.
This was the correct step taken by her and hopefully the cyber police will be able to nab him, if in case messing with the President’s daughter didn’t teach him a lesson.
