Satyajit Ray is widely considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and rightly so. He changed the way people looked at Indian cinema and had a huge impact on independent filmmaking.
Some of his acclaimed films include ‘Pather Panchali’, ‘Devi’, ‘Charulata’, ‘Kanchenjungha’ among others. And every person who aspires to become a filmmaker or director definitely watches his films for inspiration.
Ray was born on 2 May 1921 and to remember the icon, a Twitter account ‘The Paperclip’ instructed artificial intelligence to reimagine some of his most iconic movie posters.
To celebrate Satyajit Ray's birthday, we asked AI to reimagine some of his most iconic movie posters. And, here are the results! Comment on your personal favourite Ray movie poster.

Take a look at what was created by artificial intelligence.
‘Devi’- The Goddess (1960)
‘Nayak’- The Hero (1966)
‘Pratidwandi’- The Adversary, Siddharta and the City (1970)
‘Sonar Kella’- The Golden Fortress (1974)
‘Charulata’- The Lonely Wife (1964)
‘Pather Panchali’- Song of the Road (1955)
‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’- The Adventures of Goopy and Bagha (1969)
‘Jalsaghar’- The Music Room (1958)
While these posters were created to pay respect to the maestro, people online said no one can replace and ace Ray’s creations, not even AI.
Perhaps a little unfair. Ray was a trained illustrator and created great posters. Worth trying with some other directors.

The only thing it proves is that AI has still a long way to go before it can even think of replacing the creativity and the imagination of Maestros like Ray

It would be a great initiative to ask film directors of today about how they would have imagined movie posters of Ray’s movies and see what they come up with

Very vivid ones…still… Pratiddwandi my choice….

Nah. The AI artworks might be great but some how the color palette choices and hues give a post apocalyptic vibe. The originals are way more vibrant

Impressive. I understand AI has re imagined the images and the overall background based on the characters, time and place.

Wow…that’s really very interesting interpretation of the maestro’s movie posters 👌 but I loved AI interpretation of Goopy & Bagha 🤩😍

Satyajit Ray did it much better! No comparison at all

This is the worst poster of Devi to ever exist sorry

Earlier, a Redditor used AI to reimagine Harry Potter characters. Marvel characters also celebrated Vishu, thanks to AI. What do you think of these recreations? Let us know.
