Cricket isn’t just a sport in India, it’s a religion. People live, breathe and love cricket so much that every Indian, be it a girl or a boy, once in his/her life has aspired to be one.

While we are talking about cricket, how do we not talk about the God of the game himself, Sachin Tendulkar. At the tender age of 16, when Sachin held a bat to play his first Test match till the time he played his last; he has only made us proud.

When he played, that moment had a different flavour altogether. Those were a few minutes of extreme gravity in every Indian’s life. If you were hearing it on the radio, seeing it on a television set or were present at the stadium; the sound louder than that of the commentator was the chant of ‘Sachin…Sachin…Sachin…’

But have you ever wondered who was the one who first started the chant? If you have, Sachin Tendulkar revealed the answer in an interview, himself. While talking about his new film, ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams‘ he said,

“My mother started it actually. I used to play downstairs and to call me back home, my mother would call ‘Sachin… Sachin.”

Of course, how could we not know that already!

He says that after retiring from the world of cricket he never thought that the chant would follow him,

“I never thought ‘Sachin… Sachin’ (chant) would continue beyond my playing days. It has now gone in to the THEATERS. I’m happy.”

Sachin, you still live in every Indian’s heart. You have given us uncountable moments of joy, hugs and celebration! How can we see you and not chant ‘Sachin…Sachin’?

We love you Sachin!
