After AR Rahman, Resul Pookutty Speaks Of The ‘Oscar Curse’, Says He Broke Down Post His Win

Many well-accomplished B-town stars have recently opened up about the bias they have been facing in the industry alleging that it’s being run by a specific group of people. And now, it’s sound designer Resul Pookutty who has spoken about facing an emotional and professional crisis post his Oscar win, reported Hindustan Times.

It all happened when Shekhar Kapoor tweeted an article on A.R Rahman in which Rahman had said that a ‘gang’ in the Hindi film industry was spreading rumours against. In his tweet, Shekhar said that Rahman wasn’t getting enough work in the Hindi film industry because he got the Oscars and has “more talent than Bollywood can handle.”

Retweeting his post, Resul, who won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing along with his team for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, posted that he has also been in the same situation as A.R Rahman post his Oscar win.

He wrote:

However, sharing screenshots of his tweets (that couldn’t appear on his timeline) Resul said that the ‘Oscar curse’ is over and he isn’t blaming anyone for not taking him in their films.

He also said:

In reference to Resul’s tweet, ‘Manikarnika’ actor Kangana Ranaut’s team also said that Resul had called Kangana and spoke in lengths about facing bullying in Bollywood after winning the Oscar award. In the tweets, Kangana’s team said that even after losing a life (hinting at Sushant’s death) we are still going in circles.

Well, if so many famous personalities have spoken about being victims of Bollywood’s malpractices, then probably it’s time people investigate in the matter and ensure that Bollywood becomes a melting pot of talent and not a place that hampers the mental well-being of any artist.
