Many well-accomplished B-town stars have recently opened up about the bias they have been facing in the industry alleging that it’s being run by a specific group of people. And now, it’s sound designer Resul Pookutty who has spoken about facing an emotional and professional crisis post his Oscar win, reported Hindustan Times.
It all happened when Shekhar Kapoor tweeted an article on A.R Rahman in which Rahman had said that a ‘gang’ in the Hindi film industry was spreading rumours against. In his tweet, Shekhar said that Rahman wasn’t getting enough work in the Hindi film industry because he got the Oscars and has “more talent than Bollywood can handle.”
You know what your problem is @arrahman ? You went and got #Oscars . An Oscar is the kiss of death in Bollywood. It proves you have more talent than Bollywood can handle .. pic.twitter.com/V148vJccss

Retweeting his post, Resul, who won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing along with his team for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, posted that he has also been in the same situation as A.R Rahman post his Oscar win.
He wrote:
Dear @shekharkapur ask me about it, I had gone through near breakdown as nobody was giving me work in Hindi films and regional cinema held me tight after I won the Oscar… There were production houses told me at my face ”we don’t need you” but still I love my industry, for it…. https://t.co/j5CMNWDqqr

However, sharing screenshots of his tweets (that couldn’t appear on his timeline) Resul said that the ‘Oscar curse’ is over and he isn’t blaming anyone for not taking him in their films.
All my post r not seen in my timeline, posting it here again so that it’s not wrongly interpreted.Oscar curse is over, We moved on.I’m also not liking the direction in which the whole nepotism discussion is going. So peace! I’m not blaming anybody fr nt taking me in their films🙏 pic.twitter.com/ldpzSNUlsP

He also said:
Nepotism is the cheapest and most unimaginative corruption!

In reference to Resul’s tweet, ‘Manikarnika’ actor Kangana Ranaut’s team also said that Resul had called Kangana and spoke in lengths about facing bullying in Bollywood after winning the Oscar award. In the tweets, Kangana’s team said that even after losing a life (hinting at Sushant’s death) we are still going in circles.
…post his Oscar, Kangana has always known the seriousness of Bullying in Bully-wood but no action was taken back then and now that we have lost a life still we are going in circles, is there any hope for us @PMOIndia ?

Well, if so many famous personalities have spoken about being victims of Bollywood’s malpractices, then probably it’s time people investigate in the matter and ensure that Bollywood becomes a melting pot of talent and not a place that hampers the mental well-being of any artist.
