Rapist Released Early From Jail On Good Behaviour, Rapes & Murders Minor Girl In Mumbai

Vadivel Devendra aka Gundapp Bhai is a 35-year-old man convicted of raping a 5-year-old girl in 2013. He was sentenced for his ghastly crime against a minor and served his time in jail. He was released early from prison due to his ‘good behaviour’ around 6 months ago.

According to Scroll, he has been arrested once again for kidnapping, sexually assaulting and murdering a 9-year-old girl (Class 3 student) and dumping her body in a public toilet.

On April 4, she had gone out at 6 pm to buy a packet of tea but never returned home. Her parents who are daily wage workers, filed a missing person complaint with the Juhu police when they couldn’t find her. When the CCTV footage of the area was checked, the accused was seen talking to the victim.

Earlier, the accused had joined her family in looking for her. He claimed that he didn’t know what happened to the girl. After being arrested by the police, he confessed to his crime and even showed them where the body was.

Additional Commissioner of Police (western) Manoj Kumar Sharma says,

“We have booked him for murder, causing disappearance of evidence and rape, and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.”

Local residents of the area protested against the accused outside Juhu police station, where he is to stay in custody until April 15. They are demanding that he be given capital punishment.
