Reddit User Shares Kind Rejection Letter Proving Choice Of Words Makes A Huge Difference

Receiving a rejection letter during your job search can be a real blow to your confidence. It’s like a punch to the gut after putting in all that effort. What makes it sting even more is when companies don’t handle it with care. Some rejection letters can be cold and impersonal, making you feel like just another number. And then there are those companies that don’t even have the decency to give you closure – they ghost you, leaving you hanging and wondering what went wrong.

However, one company named Extreme International sent a very kind-worded rejection letter to one of their applicants. It was shared on Reddit’s r/Jobs subreddit by a user who expressed that the choice of words used in the letter made them feel better about themselves.

The user wrote, “This may seem like a run-of-the-mill rejection letter, but the choice of wording left me feeling better about myself.”

“We were impressed with your application and felt you were a strong candidate for the role of Freelance/Consultant General Legal Counsel. Unfortunately on this occasion, we felt there were candidates that were marginally better suited for the role, with whom we have decided to progress. We would love to retain your details, whether that be because we would like to reconsider your application for this role, or consider you for future roles with EXTREME International,” the rejection letter read.

Several people took to the comments section to agree with him and said that the choice of words used in anything can make a huge difference. While rejections don’t define a person’s worth, they hold value and can be terribly discouraging if not written the right way.

Instead of letting rejection bring you down, use it as fuel to keep pushing forward.
