Rajkot Man Buries Himself In A Pothole To Protest Bad Roads During CM’s Visit!

Earlier, a Bengaluru man dressed as an astronaut was seen moonwalking across city potholes, now this Rajkot man came up with another mindboggling idea to protest bad roads. Reportedly a truck driver, Lakshman Bathwar protested against the poor condition of roads in Rajkot by partially burying himself in a big pothole.

On the day when CM Vijay Rupani visited the town, Bathwar along with his friends reached the pothole on the service road of National Highway 27 with a tractor full of soil. He then lay down inside the pothole filled with water along with his friend while others partially covered them with soil. Later, Bhathwar unloaded the soil into the pothole and filled it up.

Bathwar told IE,

“As I am a truck driver, I have to pass this road every morning and evening. This stretch of the service road has been in very bad shape for the last month. Authorities should know about the poor condition of the roads, but either they were unaware of this, or are turning a blind eye.”

“The previous day, I witnessed a woman falling off a motorcycle she was riding after it hit the pothole. I thought as an aware citizen, I must do something. Therefore I came up with this idea and my friends supported it.”

He further said that even if the CM wouldn’t have visited the city, he would have protested in the same manner. “I did have some information about the CM visiting Rajkot. But I did not choose the timing of the protest keeping that in mind.”

“I had made up my mind after seeing that woman fall off the bike. I support neither the BJP nor the Congress. My protest is against the administration, corrupt officers and political office-bearers.”

The CM on his visit had reiterated ‘that the government had allotted Rs 25 crore to Rajkot Municipal Corporation for repairing rain-damaged roads.’

The deteriorating quality of roads is a problem in every city of India that is only adding to the misery of the citizens. People have been protesting time and again in hopes that the government would improve the infrastructural quality. Just as the Bengaluru artist’s creative protest prompted the authorities to act, we hope this man’s strategy ensures the pothole is fixed before lives are lost in street accidents caused by these potholes.
