Rahul Bose On Never Wanting To Get Married, Says It Was Never Part Of His Imagination

In our society, getting married is seen as an achievement, a kind of benchmark that every individual should achieve to live a happy life. It is more of a social obligation than a personal need. In the past, many women and men opened up about not wanting to get married at all. Some shared their ordeal of how society treated them when they decided to remain unmarried. It is not a very happy picture when it comes to dealing with the judgement of other people. But many expressed how happy they were by being on their own.

Ace actor Rahul Bose, too, is unmarried. And he decided to be so at the very age of 18. When his mother got to know about it, she thought his decision will change in the coming years. She was wrong.

The Indian Express quoted him saying:

“At the age of 18, I said I will never get married and my mother said, ‘That’s ok, we will see five or ten years from now’. If she had been alive today, she probably would have realised that I just knew.”

Even though he sought love and companionship, marriage, per se, never crossed his mind.

“Love, togetherness, companionships? Yes. Long, beautiful relationships with laughter and truth and moments? Yes. But marriage and all that stuff was never part of my imagination.”

Rahul Bose went on to opine that one can look for lust, but how can one look for love, he asked.

“I eagerly looked for lust a lot when I was younger. But how do you look for love? The only way of getting love is to give love. You just have to give it unconditionally to anyone and anything. If it comes, it comes, if it doesn’t, it is still beautiful to love.”
