In a shocking incident that took place on a plane flying from Pune to Nagpur, a 32-year-old engineer named Feroze Sheikh, who is set to get married next month, masturbated at a 40-year-old woman sitting next to him on the flight and made lewd gestures. The woman was on her way to her father’s funeral.
Sheikh is a resident of Durrani Complex, Mithanagar, Kondhwa. He was on his way to Nagpur for work. He was sitting on the window seat and the woman was sitting next to him, who dozed off after take-off. However, when she woke up while an announcement was being made, she saw the man and thought that maybe he was scratching himself, reported Moneycontrol.
But after he didn’t stop, she became suspicious and he went on to allegedly nudge her and make lewd gestures. She instantly wanted to alert the cabin crew but the plane was landing by then.
After the plane landed, the guy rushed towards the rear exit and tried to flee. But the woman made a hue and cry which alerted the cabin crew and ground staff. They acted swiftly and got CIFS jawans to capture him.
He was later arrested and a complaint was filed against him under sections 354 (assaulting or using criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage her modesty), 354 (a) (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
