Just when we thought that Japan cannot get weirder, we came across this news by The Huffington Post, and it made us loose our appetite for like next 20 years.
A Tokyo based eatery called Curry Shop Shimizu, which opened earlier this month, has a house specialty which might make you vomit or give up all the curry based dishes. It’s a “poo-flavored curry” which actually looks like real poop.
Is it real poop?
No. The dish doesn’t have any real poop. It’s made from natural ingredients like green tea, bitter gourd and cocoa powder. All these ingredients combine to make it look and taste like human defecation.
How do they know what poop tastes like?
The dish is a brainchild of executive chef Ken Shimizu. Apparently, he has designed this dish to remind people of his other job, which is of a male porn star. During few of his films, he ate some feces, and hence he knows the taste.
Do people actually eat that?
Err… no! The restaurant is having a hard time convincing consumers to try out their ‘poop curry’. According to the restaurant’s own market research, 85 percent of people would never go for that bite of bile.
On one side, where the world welcomed toilet themed restaurants with themed furniture and cutlery, this was taking it a bit too far. Don’t you think? ? ?
