Bollywood as a fraternity is not as diverse as they would want us to think. It is partly because of the biases that stem from nepotism/favouritism and partly because of the self-proclaimed monopoly of stars over everyone else, including singers.
I wish it weren’t true but that is just one part of the story. It is an entirely different ball game when sexism and misogyny kick in, dividing due and work on the basis of gender. Female singers, even with awards to their credits, often get ill-treated when pitched against their male counterpart. If you don’t believe me, well, you will after this.
It all began when Bollywood blogger, Miss Malini, present to cover the IIFA Awards 2017, mistook Armaan Malik for Amaal Mallik. Â

That's @ArmaanMalik22 :p

And thus began the tirade…
Soon, playback singer Aditi Singh Sharma realised the gravity of the moment and voiced a very important concern- the disparity between actors and musicians. She even called out the blogger for mistaking her for someone else too! Â
Last time i was on the carpet with @MissMalini she called me Kanika Kapoor !! This only happens with musicians @AmaalMallik @ArmaanMalik22 https://t.co/EvblBWYDo3

She wasn’t even pleased when apologies were offered.
@MissMalini host an interview yourself with some of the singers someday so you can be aware, usually you send your team for music stuff.

And this was enough to rouse the wrath of Neha Bhasin, of the fame ‘Jag Ghoomeya’, who didn’t spare a moment before expressing her mind.Â

She even took it personally with Miss Malini, exposing the hypocrisy that works behind the lenses.Â

To which pat came a reply,Â
Wasn't up to me doll, was just following my producers instructions! We support everyone as you've seen many times on the blog. xoxo

Let me make it up to you, come by my office we'll do something special with you on a Facebook Live, ok? 🙂 xoxo

But Neha, for obvious reasons, is in no mood for amends! Â

In fact, she retaliated saying,Â

Concluding the spat (or so we think), Miss Malini replied with whatever was left in her arsenal.Â
Didn't treat you like trash. Sorry you felt that way. I offered to make it up to you. If you want to stay pissed, totally your choice. xo

If it isn’t already blaring, the double-standards that exist in the industry and even in the mainstream media is alarming. It goes without a say that it will take not only integrity but also collective effort before the veil of pretence drops!
