Spy thriller movies like ‘Raazi’, ‘Mukhbir’, ‘Code Name Tiranga’, have taken over a major chunk of the content that Bollywood has been producing of late. All of these films have more or less the same storyline.
A RAW agent is sent to Pakistan, skillfully placed inside the premises of the Army General of the neighboring country to be the fly on his wall. During his mission, the protagonist tends to fall for a citizen of the enemy country whom he has to sacrifice for the country. Then in the end, the agent gets blasted and he has to fight the army only to come out victorious.
This is also the story of the upcoming Indian Hindi-language spy thriller film ‘Mission Majnu’.
A couple of days ago, the trailer of Shantanu Bagchi’s film was dropped. And after going through it, people online were not only unimpressed but also annoyed by the easy-to-guess storyline of the Indian spy Amandeep Singh camouflaging as a citizen of Pakistan to investigate Pakistan’s nuclear weapons facility.
Watch:
Jo khud se pehle desh ke baare mein soche, wahi hain #DeshKeLiyeMajnu 🇮🇳
Aisa hi ek Majnu hai Amandeep Singh jisne India ke sabse khatarnak mission ke liye apni jaan ki baazi laga di 🫡
Watch Mission Majnu, a spy thriller inspired by true events.

Apart from it being on the same lines as many other Bollywood spy movies, the stereotypical portrayal of the Muslim man, wearing surma, skullcap, and a taaveez on his neck and greeting everyone with aadaab got the worst of people online.
The makers also claim that it’s based on true events but people are blatantly denying it.
This is how they reacted:
We both know this wasn’t inspired by true events, but is a work of fiction. Anyways.

Since a Muslim country is running the Nuclear program, therefore the dome of the facility should be green. Btw it seems more of a juxtaposition of a mosque dome, Qadirabad Power Plant chimneys and uninhabited plateau of Potohar region. pic.twitter.com/knp1bk5TKj

How come every spy movie has the same template – go to pakistan, get sensitive information on nuclear something, fall in love with a local, get married, live a double life, undergo an avenger-level mission. Wait that's Raazi also! https://t.co/fpSG5Rtu56

We don’t need an intelligence agency, just go around Pakistan and arrest everyone that says Adaab and you’ve caught all the Indian spies. https://t.co/QSm7TS4tHV
