The 24-year-old was working as a bouncer in the nightclub when he heard the gunshots from a distance.

Everyone in the night club was dreading that day to be their last day and hence, were hiding in fear. Seeking some moment to be the perfect opportunity, Imran opened the back door at the risk of his own life so that people could escape from there.

He shared the horrific details in an interview. Here’s what he said:

There was only one choice. Either we all stay there and we all die, or I could take the chance, and I jumped over to open that latch and got everyone that we can out of there. I wish I could have saved more, to be honest. There are a lot of people that are dead.

His training at the Marine Corps paid off when he reacted because of his instinct.

Yousuf’s mother and paternal grandmother are Hindus and his family emigrated from Guyana. Yousuf considers himself to be a Hindu.

His grandfather is a Muslim.

Yousuf’s act proved that you don’t need to have a chiseled body to be hailed as a hero. In dreadful incidents like this (which is actually regarded as the USA’s deadliest shooting), you just need a little bit of courage to throw fear out of the door.

Even if it means putting yourself at risk!

Way to go, Imran Yousuf. Your act was more than commendable.
