Vijayawada Man Answers Call While Keeping Phone On Charge, Dies Of Electrocution

Mobile phones can cause extreme damage if not handled with care and we have seen numerous examples for the same. And for your information, they can also be fatal at times. While we continue to take electronic gadgets way too lightly, we have another case of tragedy, caused due to the neglection of necessary precautions.

In an incident that took place in Vijayawada, a man was electrocuted after his mobile phone got burnt due to suspected high voltage, at Vagupalli under Kanigiri mandal in Prakasham district. According to TOI, Changu Mastan Reddy was speaking on his phone which was connected to a charger.

The 31-year-old was a physically challenged individual who used to live alone.

According to Kanigiri sub-inspector U Srinivasulu, the neighbours got the hint when they smelled burning wires late Monday night. Later they found him lying dead on the floor.

“They noticed Mastan Reddy lying on the ground with his mobile phone in his left hand. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared brought dead due to electrocution. Mastan Reddy lived alone on a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 from the government under the disabled category. Both his parents died few years ago.”

The mobile phone was so badly burnt that the police could not figure out the make of the handset. However, a Samsung mobile phone was found near Reddy’s body.

According to the police, overheating may be a possible reason behind the accident. A case was registered under Section 174 of the CrPC and investigation was underway.

The incident comes as another warning to us. It’s high time we know and study the do’s and don’t’s of an electric gadget and take the precautionary measures while using it. Stay safe.
