Bartender And Bouncers Thrash A Musician At A Delhi Bar And His Account Is Horrid

Man-Beaten-Delhi-Bar

What are the basic things an artist craves for? Fame, recognition, and success! Right? And most importantly, they all crave respect for their work. Everyone human does!

They perform at clubs, go for gigs, do what they can in their might to spread their art. At shows, there are technical glitches and there are things that can go wrong. But never should things come to a point where artistes are to be assaulted physically or shall they engage in such a behaviour.

Something horrid happened with the members of the music band, The Cosmic Truth, who performed their musical tribute to Chester Bennington at Delhi’s Turquoise Cottage on August 4. Two band members were assaulted by the bartender and bouncers over a cheque altercation and it was brutal, leading to head and several other injuries.

Band’s guitarist and victim, Sahil Sharma, who has suffered injuries shared the shocking incident in a Facebook post.

MUSICIANS AND ARTISTS. LISTEN UP!
I played the tribute to Chester last night by Cacophony Networks at TURQUOISE COTTAGE last night.
The horrible PAs and their ignorant attitude towards basic live setup requirements were as expected.
But yesterday, I went through something excruciating.
I was done with my set and I was about to leave when I saw my band’s engineer Mayank Tiwari talking to the bartender asking for his check. Somehow, there was a misunderstanding with the orders.
Still ready to pay extra because we wanted to leave, Mayank asked for his cheque again.
But this time, this bartender came out from behind the bar and started arguing heatedly with him. I walked over and the only thing I heard was this bartender, whose name turned out to be Harpal saying, “Tu bahar toh chal.”
Then, I tried to calm him down and asked what it was all about. In response to which, he started pushing the both of us.
I asked the manager (Anil Bisht), all dressed in a black suit to just calm them down and sort the situation, while he did NOTHING.
While I was trying to understand what was happening and trying to slack his pushes on the both of us, the situation escalated. This guy made a grab at my THROAT.
What would you do in a situation like this?
I reacted and tried to push him away.
While he was trying to strangle me for the next 20 seconds or so, 2 bouncers came in and started pushing us and slapping us around.
AT THAT POINT, THIS IS A VENUE WITH ALMOST 200 PEOPLE IN THERE WHO HAVE COME TO WATCH THE ARTISTS – US.
And then they wreaked havoc. These bouncers dragged me 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. That’s 2 FLOORS while dragging me HEAD first.
And it didn’t stop there.
They paused at each flight to deliver blind kicks and punches THROUGHOUT.
And this bartender was constantly chipping in.
There were people trying to stop them, but these shameless bastards just didn’t care.
They lashed out at everyone who came in between.
Is this how it will work out now?
Are we at the whims of these goons?
It took me 12 hours to get an FIR registered with no guarantees of any aid.
Can we do something about this?
Will we boycott them?
Will we keep sharing hashtags to get attention until we get preoccupied with something else?
The choice is yours.
Feel free to tag anyone who’d be interested in this. Feel free to spread the word.
And the word is, I’m going to destroy what this disgusting place stands for.
Turquoise Cottage, Green Park.
Fuck you. Fuck your management.
Look at what you did.
I have multiple injuries all over my body, which is now certified by a government hospital. I have stitches on my head.
Do you have a fucking answer, you ignorant little twats?

An official complaint has been lodged with Safdarjung Enclave Police Station in South Delhi. Sahil has shared the copy of the FIR with us.

There’s been no word from the authorities of the bar.

Sahil posted the incident on Facebook a few hours ago and it’s being shared by the people incessantly. Netizens are pouring in their support and expressing their disbelief in the comments section and also tagging their friends.

How is this any way to treat anyone? And, just because there was an altercation, how did that give anyone the right to physically assault anyone? Is this what the world has come to?

The police are looking into the matter and hopefully, after the CCTV footage is out, the matter would get a bit untangled.
