Mallu Teacher Singing ‘Mere Dholna’ At Her Brother’s Wedding Leaves The Audience Mesmerised

We have all at one point or the other fancied ourselves to be amazing singers. Be it a drunken karaoke night belting out 80’s Bollywood classics or the OG acoustic bathroom sessions, you all know I’m not alone in this. Finally, it took a couple of well-meaning (read individuals genuinely concerned about their eardrums) friends or family to smash our dreams of becoming the next Indian Idol.

While you and I may not have been born with the talents of a nightingale, this woman from Kerala most definitely was.

Lalloo Alphonse from Kanjirappally in Kerala is an assistant professor of English. But more than that, she is one half of the singing duo, Anup N Lalloo.

Lalloo met her better half, Anup Thomas while singing at wedding choirs. The couple who have been married since 2015, first come into the limelight for a video of them singing a Malayalam classic at their own wedding reception.

But for those who thought that was mindblowing, Lalloo singing ‘Mere Dholna‘ at her brother’s wedding eve was a complete game changer.

The song ‘Mere Dholna‘ is by no means an easy one to perform. Even my tone-deaf wanna be singer alter ego knows that. That which gives even the most experienced and well-versed singers a hard time to reproduce has been sung with such grace and seeming ease by Lalloo that you can’t help but wonder what sorcery this is.

There is no point in me prolonging this, as no words can do justice to the actual magic that is her performance. So, here, watch the video yourself:

Poof! Mindblown right? Yeah, I know.

You can catch a glimpse of hubby, Anup, in the sidelines completely engrossed in her performance. The video since being posted has been shared across multiple platforms and is well on it’s way to being viral.

What really sold it to me, apart from her incredible voice, is her amazing smile. That’s a smile that can make a rainbow appear even on the gloomiest of days. You have some true talent, Lalloo. It was a complete pleasure to have witnessed you perform at least through a video.
