While on my way back from a wonderful holiday, I was asked to sit in the waiting room at a particular station because the train was to arrive late. Not only was I horrified by the dirty rat-infested room that I had entered, but I also swore to never enter another waiting room at a railway station for the rest of my life!
But pictures of the unbelievable waiting lounge at Madurai Railway station has got me changing my plans!
IRCTC took it up a notch this time and has recently launched its new lounge at Madurai railway station which looks like a complete 5-star airport lounge!
The place is made comfy with several recliners and couches with wifi and entertainment facilities.
According to sources, the entry fee is Rs.150 per person with an additional Rs.50 for extra hours.
Passengers availing a shower and changing room facilities have to pay an extra Rs.150. This mere amount includes bath towels, hand towel, body lotion, soap, shampoo, shaving kit, comb, dental kit, disposal bag and earbuds.
The lounge also has a business centre where passengers can use the wifi-enabled computers and use printing services for urgent document print-outs.
The retiring rooms have been upgraded to include services like buffet meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, WiFi, laundry service, doctor on call, LED TV with cable.
It’s hard to believe how amazing the waiting room looks! Visiting this place will be on the to-do list of every railway passenger from now on!
