Reel life is heavily influenced by real life. And the same can be said the other way round. In an incident that was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, two lovers who were married to different people decided to die together by jumping into the river Yamuna, full filmy style. Tragic, but filmy.
According to Hindustan Times, the lovers wanted to live together, but society didn’t let them since they were already married. So they decided that if they cannot live together, they should die together. But there was one problem.
At the last moment, the woman jumped straight into the river, but the guy didn’t. He backed off! The woman knew how to swim. So she realised that the guy didn’t jump along with her. Enraged by her lover’s betrayal, she swam to the bank of the river and later went on to lodge a complaint at the police station. This happened on May 29.
It was found that the woman was in a relationship with the man, identified as Chandu, for the past 6 years. The woman has a 6-year-old daughter with whom she went to Pune a couple of months back. It was in her absence that Chandu got married to another woman.
The woman returned back to UP on May 18 and raised concerns over his marriage. Chandu promised to marry her but the woman wouldn’t let go of the issue. After many fights, their resolution to the problem was to die together. So they met on the New Yamuna Bridge…and you know about the disaster that happened then.
A case has been lodged against Chandu for “attempt to murder” and “damaging the woman’s mobile”.
