Kshama Bindu, The Vadodara Girl Who Married Herself, Celebrated Her 1st Karwa Chauth

Back in June, a woman named Kshama Bindu from Vadodara grabbed headlines after she announced her decision to marry herself in an act of ultimate self-love. From a Haldi ceremony amongst friends to an intimate Hindu wedding, Kshama did have it all. She decked up in a red lehenga and donned heavy jewellery. She put sindoor on her forehead and put the mangalsutra around her neck.

A few days ago, Kshama Bindu celebrated Karwa Chauth with herself as a newly married woman. Decked up in traditional attire, she looked at herself in the mirror and broke the fast by feeding herself.

“Aaj pehla karwa chauth manaya,
Maine khudko jab aaine pe dekha,
Apna khoya guroor nazar aaya,” she wrote.

This roughly translates to, “Today, for the first time, I celebrated Karwa Chauth. Saw myself in the mirror. Found my lost pride.”

Looking at herself in the mirror, she took the first bite of food and broke her fast.

She wore a solid red saree with a golden blouse and had her forehead filled with sindoor.

Some people love her for her acts of self-love. Others don’t seem to get her life choices. But to each their own. As long as sologamy makes her happy, who are we to question her?
