2 Girls Recorded Man Masturbating At Them In A Bus, Kolkata Police Nabs The Pervert

I’m sure by now, none of us are strangers to the reality that girls get masturbated at in public. Especially in our public transport, this has become more or less the norm. Right? But why have we let it become the norm? Why, despite countless cases of public masturbation, molestations, heckling etc, do we still not have a solution to these disgusting deeds? Because we still choose to keep quiet and move on with our lives.

Well, let me tell you of another such incident where a bus full of people chose to stay silent as two girls got masturbated at in a public bus.

On Saturday, two girls in Kolkata recorded a man sitting behind them in a bus and masturbating at them while making obscene gestures with his mouth.

One of the girls posted the videos on Facebook in a post detailing their experience.

In the video, the man can be seen to be lecherously enjoying himself despite being aware of the fact that he was being recorded. In fact, this seems to excite him more as he keeps smiling for the camera and making vulgar gestures with his mouth.

The post which is in Bengali has been translated by the Indian Express as such:

She shared her post on Kolkata Police’s official Facebook page, specifying 30B/1 WB25C6638 as the bus number. She also mentioned that the same man had masturbated at them two weeks ago and that she could do nothing that day as they were unable to get any proof of his deeds. Her post soon went viral and many appealed to the Kolkata Police to take immediate action.

According to the Indian Express, the Kolkata Police responded to the appeals as follows:

“We don’t need any written complaint. The videos posted on our Facebook page is enough for us. We have already lodged a case. We are trying to track down the culprit.”

Kolkata Police was quick to launch a manhunt for the culprit and within hours arrested the miscreant, identified as Asit Roy, a hawker, from Shyampukur Police Station area.

The official Facebook page of Kolkata Police announced the arrest on Saturday evening, in a post with a picture of Roy.

As per a report by India Today, the post reads:

The quick action taken by the Kolkata Police in this incident is much appreciated. We have had countless cases were such complaints have been brushed under the rug till forgotten. While in this case, the police did their job with utmost efficiency, we should not ignore the fact that as the misdeed was taking place, the girls did not find any help from those around them. This right here is the mentality that we need to uproot immediately. In cases of public masturbation and molestations, the perpetrators get away with it because those around them and their victims would rather turn a blind eye than getting involved. Isn’t it about time that changed?
