Harsh punishments and not getting due attention could have a deeply negative effect on kids. Teachers and parents these days are swamped with work and don’t have the ability to look after the need of every child.
These five kids between the age of 12 and 14 had been expelled from their school and so had fled to Loni in Ghaziabad. They took up a house and told the landlord that they were labourers in search of work.
They had set up their house and had even managed to make it functional. Yeah, these 12 to 15-year-old children had set up their house and were managing comfortably on their own.
The Delhi Police traced them to their new abode and the DCP (north east) AK Singla said that the boys had even set up a kitchen, with a cylinder and bought utensils. According to a Hindustan Times report, he said,
The officer obviously said that it was imperative that the boys are taken back home to their parents. All the five boys live in the same locality in Karwal Nagar. Three of them even had a part-time job. When the other kids learned about it, they too decided to quit their studies and look for work instead.
Singla said that the five children planned to run away a few days ago. Acting on their plan they started looking for a house and finally found one in Loni. He said,
“They were not good in studies and used to bunk classes regularly. They were expelled from school a week ago. When they told their parents about it, they were scolded.”
He said they finalised the house and moved in. They found part time work at a wedding and earned enough money to pool in and buy basic necessities to run the house. Once everything was organised they left home and moved in together.
One of the parents of the runaway kids registered a case with the police to track their son. And then they saw that the other four kids’ parents had also filed complaints that their sons were missing. After a detailed inquiry, Singla said,
We hope that the kids reached home safely to their worried parents. But I must say, that it takes some amount of guts to run away and rent a house at the age of 12. Even at 22, I have problems doing that!
