Like a proud mom, Kris Jenner was praising her daughter Kendall Jenner’s new Pepsi ad and thought people would join the conversation. Well, they did. Within minutes of its presence on social media, the ad garnered such hate comments and furious reactions that it became a talking point on the inter-web.
So the ad, that is now taken down, saw Kendall wearing a platinum blonde wig, in the middle of a photoshoot.
When she saw a mob urging all to ‘Join The Conversation”, Kendall takes off her wig, smears her lipstick (was it Kylie’s?) and joins the protest.
But then, she picks up a Pepsi can, fist-bumps a fellow protester and then walks up to a Police official and hands him a Pepsi, which he drinks. (His ‘Pepsi thi, pi gaya’ moment).
Next, we see all rejoicing and celebrating (but, what?).
So naturally, Twitter was abuzz with reactions and berserk in not so good way.
Joining their conversation was Martin Luther King’s daughter, Bernice A. King, who mocked the campaign saying,
If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi. pic.twitter.com/FA6JPrY72V

That backlash.
I could spend the rest of my life trying and not even come close to making something as funny as this Pepsi ad. https://t.co/C5qG1trHKg

Stephen Colbert’s not-so-subtle dig.
This Pepsi ad is so unrealistic. Those protesters would have been Dr. Pepper Sprayed. https://t.co/oNjjtm6eFu

Piers Morgan slammed it completely.
The new @pepsi ad with @KendallJenner is stupefyingly diabolical.
Absurd, PC-crazed, virtue-signalling, snowflake claptrap. pic.twitter.com/SA9RRanGNo— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) April 4, 2017
Sarcasm on point.
WATCH: Apparently @KendallJenner and @pepsi have taken over Black Lives Matter. Not kidding. pic.twitter.com/VUbQvxkPmW

You surely didn’t notice that before, did you?

Seeing the backlash and flak the advert has garnered, Pepsi apologised to all and said that they clearly missed the mark.

It has also taken the commercial and is doing damage control right now.
The ad didn’t go down well with the people and some said it made the mockery of ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest and that the commercial lacked the tone and sensibilities.

If not anything, the ad did unite America to agree on one thing.
