Karan Johar: K3G Is The Single Biggest Slap In My Face & My Biggest Reality Check

Karan Johar has helmed some of Bollywood’s huge blockbusters like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’, ‘My Name Is Khan’, ‘Student Of The Year’ among others. His films are known to showcase extravagant sets, elaborate and rich lifestyles spiced with a lot of drama.

In short, Dharma productions is a genre in itself as far as Hindi cinema is concerned. ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’ is one of the biggest films, Karan Johar has ever directed and produced. With a star-studded cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Shar Rukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, and Hrithik Roshan, Karan said, that he believed he is making the biggest film of Indian cinema back then, reports Pune Mirror.

Though the film that was all about the world-famous Kajol-SRK chemistry topped with high-profile family drama, managed to garner rave reviews from the audience and made big numbers at the box office, KJo feels, the film is his biggest reality check.

“I thought that I’m making the biggest film in Hindi cinema since ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ until Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ and Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’,” Karan told HT.

“I made the same film as ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, that’s what ‘K3G’ was. I took the storyline of Kabhi Kabhie and the family values of ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’ and made this mush of a film,” he added.

“K3G is the single biggest slap in my face and my biggest reality check,” the star director said.

Another element of the film that stayed with us forever was Kareena’s character ‘Poo’. From bringing crop tops in trend to putting youngsters in a habit of saying ‘whatever’ to everything they want to diss, Poo personified the saying ‘love her or hate her, you just can’t ignore her’.

Karan opened up about Poo and said that most of her dialogues which are now memes or jokes were penned by him. “Poo, OMG! You should go and check online. There are lines, memes and games on Poo, but at the time only Bebo and I loved her character.” he said.

He added, “I am Poo, that’s who I am, I wrote all the lines, picked the clothes, everything.”

You don’t need to be so guilty about ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’, Karan, we have already accepted the film as a ‘brainless entertainer’!
