Kanpur Bride Marries A Baraati After Groom Disappears From Venue After Jaimala

We have come across many stories where several Desi marriages have taken a bizarre turn right on the day of the wedding. For instance, how a Telangana bride walked out of her wedding midway after allegedly spotting her ex-boyfriend, or how another dulha and his baraat returned home after spending the entire night searching for the ‘bride’ and her home.

In another bizarre incident from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, things took a different turn when a girl hailing from Narwal town of Maharajpur was set to get married to a man of the neighbouring Palhepur village. On the day of the wedding, the baraat had arrived and the jaimala ceremony took place as usual, but soon after, the groom went missing under mysterious circumstances right before taking the saat pheras, TOI reports.

The bride and her family members were left in shock as they tried to trace him for a while. They discovered that the disappeared groom had, in fact, fled from the wedding venue deliberately for reasons best known to him.

A group of guests from the bride’s side narrated the incident stating, “On coming to know about the development, the bride’s family members were in a shock and the bride-to-be started crying inconsolably at the ‘shaadi-mandap’.”

They continued, “Seeing this, a guest from the groom side, who had mediated the things earlier, immediately put forth a proposal before the girl and her parents of getting her married to a suitable ‘baraati’ (guest from the groom side) right at the moment.”

Without any delay, both families agreed to the proposed alliance and the new couple got married at the venue.

After this, the bride’s family approached the police and lodged a complaint against the groom and his family members.

Inspector Narwal Shesh Narain Pandey explained, “We have received a complaint in this regard from both the bride and groom sides. While the bride’s side has sought suitable action against the groom and his family members, the groom’s father, Dharampal, in his complaint, has sought police help to trace his missing son. Investigations are continuing in this regard.”
