50% Shows For ‘Tejas’ Starring Kangana Ranaut Cancelled By Exhibitors For Lack Of Audience

After having a great run in films during 2013-2015 that established her as one of the leading female actors in our country, Kangana Ranaut has been having a tough time at the box office. After Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Kangana appeared as the leading lady in films like Rangoon, Simran, Manikarnika, Judgementall Hai Kya, Panga, Dhaakad, and Thalaivii. The one thing that’s common with all these films is that their performance was poor at the box office.

Her latest film Tejas which is a story about an Indian Air Force pilot fighting terrorism, is struggling to survive at the box office too. According to News18, 50% of shows have been cancelled by exhibitors because of low audience occupancy in the theatres.

Manoj Desai, who is the owner of Mumbai’s popular Gaiety Galaxy said, “On Sunday, we managed to get 100 viewers. For the rest of the shows, the number of moviegoers was less than 100.”

Another exhibitor, whose identity has not been revealed, said, “The occupancy was bad even on a Sunday. There are hardly 10-12 people in each show. From Monday, more than 50% of shows are discontinued.”

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Bihar said, “For the first time this year, the morning show in my theatre got cancelled because of zero ticket sales. Hardly 20-30 people were there in the rest of the shows.”
