The telecom industry suffered a major setback when Reliance Jio offered cheap tariffs and internet plans. People using other mobile networks immediately shifted to Jio. But it was only until Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd announced that they will be charging 6 paise a minute for voice calls made to other networks. Jio users were obviously disappointed with the move but it was still a win-win situation for them given the fact that other network providers were charging more. But looks like Jio has another shocking announcement for their users.
According to ET, Reliance Jio is expected to raise tariffs by 40% come December 6. The telecom revealed that it is set to launch its new ‘All-in-One’ prepaid plans that will be priced at up to 40% higher.

Reliance Jio chairman broke the news after Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel announced a 40% hike in their tariffs. The telecom company said in a statement, “While remaining committed to the ultimate interest of the consumer, Jio will take all necessary steps to sustain the Indian telecommunications industry. Jio will continue to work with the government on the consultation process for revision of telecom tariffs and looks forward to participation from all stakeholders.”

However, the carrier hasn’t yet revealed the latest Jio plans but is expected to do so before the end of the week, reported NDTV. It also said that they will deliver up to 300% more benefits.
