Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi made her big Bollywood debut in 2018 alongside Ishan Khatter in Dhadak. The film had a blockbuster opening at the box office with both the audience and critics heaping praise on Janhvi for her outstanding performance.
Just one film old, the actress has managed to bag a couple of more films already, namely Dostana 2 and Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl.
Though a newbie in the B-town, Janhvi doesn’t shy away from putting forth her views about the industry. Recently, during a chit-chat at the MAMI film festival, Janhvi opened up about the kind of roles she would love women in the industry to portray.
“Times are changing, but I still I think we need to have a little less sanitized role for women. The best such role I can think of, in the Indian context, is the one played by Nutan in Bandini,” Janhvi said, reports Hindustan Times.
“There should be more roles that portray the uninhibited side of the female – roles such as the female versions of Kabir Singh or the Joker,” she added.
Speaking of what she loves the most about her profession, Janhvi said, “It makes me happy just to be in front of a camera. I love the travel and the experiences that come with the job,” reports India Today.

The actress also shared a piece of practical acting adviceÂ
“You just need to be alive, present, and receptive at the moment. The best acting often happens by mistake or in a spontaneous, unguarded moment. On a different note, I personally believe that we, as actors, bear the responsibility of delivering on the efforts of every single person on the set — right from the director to the spot boy. We owe it to them to give every scene our best,” she said.
She also spoke a little about her views on social media and said, “I am not very social-media-crazy either, although my team is always urging me to be more active. But I do love The Avocado Show on social media; they put up a lot of very interesting stuff.”
The portrayal of female characters in Bollywood films is gradually changing. Women-centric films like Queen, Mardani, Mom among others have raised the bar of content-driven films real high. We hope Bollywood continues to offer us more such films with a bold and impactful portrayal of women!
