Yesterday was ‘World Snake Day’ and people celebrated this occasion by posting pictures of various kinds of snakes online and spreading awareness. Many also used this day as an opportunity to laud snake rescuers and keeping snakes safe in a world that is so scared of them.
However, in a bizarre incident, snake catchers in Jamshedpur celebrated World Snake Day by cutting a cake and trying to feed it to snakes, reports DNA. The snake catchers team protects the locals from the five venomous snakes found in the city including Common Krait, Banded Krait, and Viper.
A video captured a woman cutting what appeared to be a chocolate cake while others stand beside her carrying snakes. The woman then tries feeding the snakes with cake.
“Yeh cake khaskar saanpo ke liye hai isiliye humne unhe pehle cake khiyala. Saanpo ne bhi humara samman rakha aur unhone us cake ko khaya,” the woman says.
Have a look at the incident here:
Snakes are strictly carnivorous animals. While some eat warm-blooded animals, others eat insects, amphibians, and other reptiles, according to PetMD. They tend to swallow their food whole. Feeding them anything else, especially food which humans eat is harmful.
People on the internet believed a cake made for humans was unfit for the reptiles and thus slammed the snake rescue team for their ignorance and called the celebration “irresponsible”. Many said that the snakes should be rescued from the rescue team itself.
To celebrate #WorldSnakeDay2020 they cut a cake and even fed some to the snake and were so happy abt it.
If these r snake rescuers thn they are more dangerous for snakes.

Wtf is this?! Snake rescuers are expected to be responsible enough to educate citizens on misconceptions about snakes… What does one say when they themselves behave like this? @JharkhandVan https://t.co/AckpMV5ItR

Human standards of living shouldn’t be applied to wild animals. People should be more sensitive about their ways and means of living instead of forcing our ways on them, which more often than not, cause them harm.
