27 YO Jaipur Woman Arrested For Extortion And Murder Of Man She Lured On Dating App

Extortion

We’re a generation of people who want quick everything – fast food, instant results, speedy delivery, speed dating. Coming to dating, ever since dating apps have become popular, they’ve been blessed and cursed by many. After all, the number of things that go wrong with the use of dating apps sometimes exceeds the success stories.

Hear, hear.

27-year-old Jaipur woman, Priya Seth, was recently arrested for the murder, theft and extortion of a man she lured in as a date found on one of the dating apps.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Seth, along with her boyfriend Dikshant Kamra (20) and friend Lakshya Walia (21), held 29-year-old Dushyant Sharma captive at a rented flat in Bajaj Nagar. Their aim was to extort money.

Seth and Sharma connected on a dating app, after which she invited him to her flat on May 2. When he arrived, they tied him up with wires, robbed his ATM card and called his father for ransom.

However, his father said that he doesn’t have that kind of money but he can transfer ₹3 lakh in Sharma’s account.

The three accused are now held in custody at Jhotwara police station.  According to the police, Seth misinterpreted details on his profile. His profile said his name was Vivan Kohli from Delhi who earned crores a month.

“Seth got friendly with him with an intention of robbing him because he appeared wealthy.”

Afraid that Sharma will go to the police after their little stunt, the trio decided to kill him. A police officer said,

“They thought if he was allowed to go away, he may blow the lid on them so they killed him.”

Seth withdrew ₹20,000 from his account using the stolen ATM card. They chopped his body into pieces and stuffed it in a suitcase, which was later found in Amer near Jaipur on May 3.

Previously, Seth, who is the daughter of a lecturer at a government college in Pali, was involved in a live-in relationship with a man in Noida after which she was accused of extortion. She had denied the accusations then.

She moved to Jaipur to get enrolled in a college and came in contact with an agent. The agent asked her to rent a flat that will be used for prostitution and he will pay her quick and good money. Seth has denied these charges too.

Under the condition of anonymity, a police offer said,

“She would befriend wealthy people through dating platforms and escort service websites and invite them to her flat. When the men arrived, she would… threaten to register a rape case against them if they did not give her money.”

We’ve heard of people going that extra mile of desperation for quick money. But extortion, stealing and murder is an extreme step. People involved in it should be punished severely with no mercy.

If they do not value someone else’s life, it’s only fair that theirs shouldn’t be spared either.
