‘Jab We Met’, was on our list of ‘to binge watch movies’ and it took no time for us to get hooked on it. The cheerful, full of life Geet, played by Kareena Kapoor and the sulky, young, handsome man Aditya, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, who was on the verge of committing suicide was an epic combination. We enjoyed their journey as if it was happening in our own lives and accept it, we all secretly believed that we would meet the perfect one on one such train journey.
In this revelation, Imtiaz Ali gives an account of how the script of ‘Jab We Met’ actually came about and the story of this will also get you hooked!
Imtiaz Ali came up with this idea of ‘Jab We Met’ because of one of his friends who was depressed.
“He (my friend) said that a man who wants to kill himself fascinates me and i said that a girl on the train fascinates me.”
Imitiaz finished writing the script of ‘Jab We Met’ at a Rajdhani speed of only two and a half days!
“the unique thing about the script of jab we met is that i was never really very confident about it.”
And that famous Ratlam scene is where Imtiaz knew that he was on the right track.
“when the scene happens where the girl comes and looks at Aditya and says that, “woh aa raha hai peeche, woh dekh raha hai?’ at that point of time i felt that this film is going to get made.”
The journey of the movie was based on his observations from his regular travels between Delhi and Mumbai.
He actually had the first-hand experience of Ratlam ki galiya while he was appearing for a court case!
Listen to the story of how ‘Jab We Met’ came about from Imtiaz Ali himself.
It is amazing how Imtiaz came up with the script of ‘Jab We Met’ in just two and a half days and how it managed to sway us all along!
