ISRO Made World’s Lightest Material That Will Keep Our Brave Siachen Soldiers Warm

A path-breaking technology that could save thousands of lives, scientists at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram have manufactured the world’s lightest material called silica aerogel, ‘frozen smoke’ or ‘blue air.’

In this video uploaded by NTDV, the material is so light that it can be perched on a flower. Manufactured initially to insulate rocket engines, according to scientists, it acts an excellent insulator and can be placed in soldier’s uniforms, jackets and insoles as well.

We salute the scientists of ISRO #Respect 🙂
