Iron Man And 4 Other Avengers Got Matching Tattoos To Celebrate Their 10-Year Journey

‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ has arrived and taken the world by storm. It has shattered box-office numbers and wooed critics as well. And looking at the pace at which it’s going, it almost feels surreal to think how much this franchise has achieved. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t get here in one day.

It’s a 10-year journey that’s now comprised of 19 movies with Kevin Feige at the helm and a bunch of talented people behind him. There have been ups and downs but they’ve persevered thanks to the familial bonding between the cast and the fans. And Robert Downey Jr., the man in the iron suit, reminded fans about all this with a simple tattoo.

Robert Downey Jr. took to Instagram to announce that the stars of ‘The Avengers’ have gotten matching tattoos to commemorate their 10-year journey together. Downey told EW that,

“Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo. And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was (Scarlett) Johansson’s idea, and she and (Chris) Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did (Jeremy) Renner, and then we just bullied (Chris) Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it.”

Of course, it’s no random tattoo. The “A” resembles the Avengers logo and the “6” that’s going through it signifies the original six members of the team. Go ahead, you can wipe those nostalgia-filled tears.

Although it’s just one tattoo, it has the memories of how the characters and the actors had to bond on and off-screen, and create history. And as the tattoo artist, Joshua Lord made this possible, the sweet Avengers gave them a return gift.

“each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.”

Here’s the final product, brought to you by Jeremy “Hawkeye” Renner.

Marvel fans couldn’t handle this nostalgia trip and let their emotions flow into their Twitter handles.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ ended on a particularly sombre note, leaving the original six Avengers and some other superheroes to undo Thanos’s actions. And considering how Downey and Evans are looking to end their contracts, ‘Avengers 4’ might be the last time the team will be seen together. So, go ahead and take it in because this is historic.
