An English Professor In UP Doesn’t Know How To Spell ‘Evaluation’. What Is Going On!?

The Ruby Rai debacle that gripped Bihar last month raised a lot of questions about the state of education and the people who are behind it, if any. And now, news has come to light about professors in Uttar Pradesh who have come under the scanner for their poor qualifications.

Recently, while evaluating answer sheets at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM), one of the professors did not know the spelling of ‘evaluation.’.

The credentials of the professors came under doubt by the evaluation coordinator. Commenting on the English professors, evalutaion coordinator and ITHM director Luvkush Mishra said,

The English teacher used wrong grammar while writing a two-line application letter seeking permission for evaluating papers. And he spelled evaluation as ‘evalluation’. Shyam Bahadur also failed to answer basic questions about the subject.

One economics professor did not know the meaning of an ‘audit’ and what IMF stands for. When he was told it stands for ‘International Monetary Fund,’ he wrote it as ‘International Money Found.’

“Both teachers have been blacklisted. It seems they have been evaluating papers for years and have extensive teaching experience.”

The two professors in question were Shyam Bahadur and Anil Kumar Pal. Shyam is associate professor in English at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. Pal is associate professor in Economics at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. Both these professors have been teaching for over ten years. The chancellor of the university Ram Naik has promised strict action against these professors.

With a number of professors all over the state being pulled up for having either fake credentials or not enough competence, the position is still flaky on how this has been the trend for over more than a decade.
