For years we women have been fighting tooth and nail for equal rights at work. The same pay scale for the same work, equal opportunities for promotions, you name. After much struggle we’ve come to a point where change is not impossible but giving your colleagues an opportunity to take that from you with innocently intended name calling, will affect everything we’ve worked for.
Indra Nooyi, Pepsico CEO, Â belives in being taken seriously at work, which is why, she hates being addressed as ‘Honey’ or ‘Sweetie Pie’.

She stated her dislike for such patronizing name calling at the ‘Women In the World Summit’. This was what she had to say on the matter, “We still have to have equal treatment. I hate being called sweetie or honey at times which I still am called. All that has got to go. We have got to be treated as executives or people rather than (being called) honey, sweetie, babe. That has to change.’
She also highlighted the struggle every working woman face, ‘We clawed our way into the revolution in this workplace. Then we needed parity in pay, not yet there we are still fighting for that.’

She reminded us that we’ve crossed some hurdles, but still have a long way to go.
She had some interesting insights to give on sisterhood in the corporate atmosphere.
“There is a bigger issue we have to talk about. I don’t believe women help women enough in the workplace. Let’s figure out how we can help each other way more than we are today,” Nooyi said.
Well Indra, if a girl ever had to choose her mentor wisely, it would definitely be you.Â
