“According to our estimation, by 2035, one million passengers will be using this metro line every day”, a Kolkata Metro official said.

News18 reports that the 520-metre twin tunnel, one east-bound and the other west-bound, is built 30 metres below the riverbed. Those who will be commuting from Howrah and Mahakaran metro stations are to be under the river for only just about a minute as the train will pass the tunnel at a speed of 80km/hr.
