Indian Navy Comes To The Rescue Of Mumbai As Authorities Fail To Prepare The City For Monsoon

No one is alien to the fact that Mumbai is one of the worst affected cities by rains every year. From bridges collapsing to people falling into potholes filled with water to cancelled trains and even public holidays, these are the indicators that monsoons are here and once again, the authorities weren’t prepared to face nature’s wrath.

It has started pouring and the financial capital of India is already sinking. The situations got so worse that the authorities had to deploy the Indian Navy forces to rescue stranded citizens from rain hit Mumbai.

And needless to say, the Navy was quick enough to ‘prevent any untoward incidents due to overflowing Mithi river.’ Around 1000 people were evacuated by the Navy forces from Kranti Nagar, Kurla, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweeted.

The current state of Aamchi Mumbai is so grave that schools and offices have been shut down, some trains and flights have been cancelled and the Chief Minister is advising people to not leave their house, unless an emergency.

While Mumbai is drowning, the blame game has already begun with Twitter flooded with tweets of distressed citizens calling for immediate actions:

And if we don’t come up with a long term solution to this yearly calamity, the day isn’t far that the city will crumble under its weight.

Stay safe, Mumbaikars!
