Every city has its own allure and mysteries, and when we talk about one of the major cities of the country, there’s bound to be many hidden mysteries. Mumbai is one of the biggest cities in the country, and when there are so many people, there’s bound to be many mysterious stories. Whether you believe in these stories or you don’t, there are some people who have experienced these first-hand. Let’s have a look at some of the places in Mumbai that are believed to be haunted.
1. Haunted Marve & Madh Island road
This road is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a woman, which has been spotted by many hotel owners near Marve road. This ghost of a woman is said to distract the travelers and has been the reason behind many road accidents.
2. Nasserwanj wadi, Mahim Station
This place is located within a few minutes distance from Mahim railway station. It is said to be haunted by the spirit of the owner who was burnt to death in a cabin close to the well that is in the compound. Locals advise against roaming around the vicinity after midnight.
3. D’souza chawl, Mahim
This place is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a lady who roams around the corridors of this chawl. The lady is claimed to be seen by many near the defunct well of the society. The story has it that the lady was a previous resident of the chawl who died in an accident after falling into the well. Since then, her spirit roams around in the premises.
4. Vrindavan Society, Thane
This place is famous for its slapping ghost. That’s right, this place apparently houses a ghost that loves to slap people. The ghost is believed to be of an ex-resident of the society who committed suicide.
5. Tower of Silence
These roofless towers are used by Parsis for the exposure of the dead to the scavenging birds. This is done for the excarnation of the dead. This place is desolate and scary to begin with. Also, there have been reports of haunted sightings in the road leading up to the hills where towers are situated.
6. Mukesh mills, Colaba
Mukesh mills is an abandoned mill which was destroyed in a fire. This place is now used as a shooting location for movies and TV serials. Also, it is known as one of the most infamous haunted places in Mumbai. Reportedly, many paranormal incidents during Bollywood shoots have occurred in the vicinity.
7. Aarey Milk colony
This scenic road is said to be haunted by the ghost of a lady who often asks for a lift. After sunset, many people have claimed to see a lady ghost who asks for a lift to the passing vehicles. When the vehicles don’t stop, she sometimes even chase the vehicles for long distances. Residents advise against stopping the vehicle if encountered by this lady.
8. Poonam Chambers, Worli
This building has seen many disasters including the 1993 bomb blast and 1997 building collapse. It is said that this building is still haunted by the ghosts of the people who were trapped under the rubble and died in tragic accidents.
9. Sanjay Gandhi National Park
While you might expect to spot wildlife in their natural habitat while travelling to this park, you might even encounter an unexpected guest too. Locals claim that the park is haunted by the ghost of a hitchhiker who asks for a lift from people. Even the forest guards claim to have spotted this “ghost” hitchhiker.
Whether these places are really haunted or not, we can never know.
